Funding to establish and expand the Center has been provided by the
Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust. This facility
combines efforts of current and future members of the Department of Biology
at The University of Iowa. The Roy J. Carver
Center of Comparative Genomics has several internal core facilities to expedite the mission of the Center and its
researchers. These include an automated capillary DNA sequencer for the analysis of sequence variation, a Quantitative
Real Time PCR Thermocycler for the quantification of DNA and single nucletide polymorphisms, a robotic liquid-handling
station as well as high performance computer for data analysis and mining of existing data.
Individual research scientists are supported through competitive grants such as from
the National Science Foundation,
the US Department of Energy,
the National Institutes of Health and
the The Carver Trust.
