The education and training of research scientists is central to the doctoral program in the Department of Biology.
The program gives graduate students the knowledge and skills they need to conduct state-of-the-art research in
their areas of specialty. Graduates have found careers in academia, government, and industry. Members of the
Center and faculty in the Ecology and Evolution group are deeply involved in developing a core of courses that will prepare
students on the most dynamic and active areas in the field. These areas include each faculty's own research interests,
thus granting first-hand and up-to-date knowledge and allowing students to be highly prepared and competitive in
their scientific careers. Courses being offered include Evolution, Population Genetics and Molecular
Evolution, Systematics, Genome Evolution, etc.
